Darwin School (Winnipeg) Grades 7&8

As part of our participation in the #KidsNeedMentors program, Darwin School teacher Sarah Harrison and I have arranged a video chat. She is reading Space Cadets to her students, and they already sent along some amazing postcards introducing themselves and asking lots of questions. I’m very excited to see their faces, read a chapter of the novel to them and discuss some of the questions that I wasn’t able to address in my snail mail response.
This is just the beginning of a relationship that will be ongoing over the course of the school year, and I look forward to supporting this group as they continue to develop their writing skills!
I was a teacher for 31 years in Red Deer, Alberta (Canada). I had boatloads of fun with my students, but three decades is a long time, so I decided to retire to something a little quieter.
Space Cadets is my first book, but I have a bunch of ideas bouncing around in my head, so more are sure to follow!
